The Power of a Character Who Isn’t There

Here’s an interesting idea for novelists.  Think of Rebecca in Dauphne DuMaurier’s novel.  She never really appears but is a key part of the plot.  Literary Agent, Donald Maass, offers some tips on how conjure up such a character.
