Search engines like sites that have a lot of fresh content.  This will really help you with ranking in major search engines like Google.  If you have a blog, you should plan to update it twice weekly at least.  Schedule specific days, like Tuesday and Saturday, so you won’t forget. Make sure that your content is easy to share.  If you don’t have sharing widgets on your site (Upload to Facebook, Tweet This!, Digg, Delicious, etc.) then get your designer to add them to the site asap.  Lastly, be sure to track your statistics. A good site stat service is Google Analytics, pretty comprehensive and fairly easy to integrate into your site. You should know your traffic patterns and learn to read these reports (it’s a lot easier than it sounds). This way you’ll know what your site is doing and what it isn’t.
