A friend of mine just got out of a publishing contract because she hated the cover design they presented to her. Her gut told her it sent the wrong message. This may be the best decision she has ever made. Quick Response Codes are two dimensional square bar codes with lots of tiny boxes that can be read by smart phones with a camera, internet connectivity and a QR code reader. Nothing is more off-putting than a blatant plea to “buy my book.” I see this on a number of sites I belong to along with “vote for my blog,” or “vote for my book trailer.” My reaction – hit the delete button. For the past few weeks, I’ve been having a problem with my wireless network kicking me offline. I knew I had to call AT&T, but I also knew I had to be in the right frame of mind to do so. You’ll get a notification by email when someone wants your autograph. There have been so many breaches of personal data recently that it’s hard to tell if your information is still secure. |
